Our Story
The Captain’s Choice Tour is owned and operated by the Asker family, who have over 38 years experience in the travel industry. The Captain’s Choice Tour story began in 1994 when Phil and Kaye Asker chartered a Qantas 767 to take 190 guests to Asia and Africa. We, and our guests on this first tour, were so excited by the concept of luxury travel to destinations “off the beaten track” that it quickly became clear that this tour was really just the beginning!
Our luxury tour offerings today are diverse and feature many different modes of transport however the unique private jet charters remain an important and much anticipated feature of our annual program.

Community Outreach
Our commitment to you is to provide unique travel experiences with a touch of luxury and enhanced levels of comfort, whilst you explore some of the world’s most remote and exotic destinations.
We believe we also have a commitment to the world in which we live and travel. The Captain’s Choice Tour uses the services of local tour operators and guides in each of the destinations visited, thereby contributing to the local economy.
In addition we have a charitable foundation and work in conjunction with Rotary Aid International to complete projects within some of the countries we visit. In 2010 we opened our first senior school in Cambodia, with another one to follow in 2011. We strongly believe in giving back to the communities who have provided our guests such wonderful experiences.
Our Low Carbon Commitment
We are committed to ensuring a Low Carbon Future. In partnership with Climate Friendly and GreenPower, The Captain's Choice Tour has offset carbon emissions caused by our direct business activities - electricity and staff flights (excluding flights for tours). Carbon credits are used to invest in renewable energy projects, such as a wind farm in Jaisalmer, India. We will continue to work towards a low carbon future. On Tour Flexibility
Select Options offer you more choice in activities and dining options, enabling you to tailor each tour to your individual preferences.
Where there are options to choose from you will see the symbol within the tour itinerary. Most Select options are complimentary however some premium activities, such as a heli-ride, may require additional payment.
Solo Travellers
Many people travelling alone join The Captain’s Choice Tour. You will be made most welcome by our Tour Escort Team and have the opportunity to travel with many others on their own. To make meeting new friends easier we invite single travellers to a special Welcome Reception at the beginning of each tour to enable you to meet other passengers travelling alone.
We can arrange for you to share a hotel room with another traveller of the same gender and guarantee that you will not have to pay extra, even if we cannot find a roommate for you (except on cruise and train tours involving overnight rail travel). Alternatively you can choose to have a single room, provided to you at a low supplement. Whilst we will endeavour to find you a companion to share with on cruise tours and tours involving overnight rail journeys (with the exception of Silk Route) we are unable to guarantee this and occupancy of a single room (by choice or circumstance) on cruise or train tours will involve a surcharge.
We invite people travelling solo to join us, and rest assured, the care of our Tour Escort Team and enjoyment of company with your fellow guests means you won’t feel alone – there will always be someone to share in the joy of travel
