Sydney – Lord Howe Island

Day 1: Monday 10 April

Ready the mind for intense tranquillity as we fly with QantasLink to Lord Howe Island, 600 kilometres off the Australian mainland. Before we know it we are on 'island time' in the midst of paradise. Our home for the next three nights is the luxurious Arajilla Retreat at the northern end of Lord Howe Island’s stunning lagoon.

Perhaps upgrade to a Banyan Suite at Arajilla Retreat (additional cost). Please enquire for details.

This afternoon is ours to enjoy before we are welcomed to the island with a mesmerising sunset and tantalising canapes on the beach.

  • Venture out on one of the beautiful walking trails laced throughout the island, or meander down to the beach and relax to the melodious waves.

Day 2: Tuesday 11 April

Uncover the superb antiquity of Lord Howe Island and hear tales of its seafaring past. Learn about its discovery in 1788 and the six brave souls who undertook the harrowing charge of settling the isle in 1834. Explore its striking coastline and discover why this island has lured travellers since the turn of the 20th century.

  • Enjoy a half day of fishing in one of the world’s best locations; play a scenic round of golf; or simply relax at our tranquil resort.

Day 3: Wednesday 12 April

As we cruise through the beautiful North Bay, gaze through the pristine waters at the abundance of marine creatures who call this island home. Observe turtles, stingrays and an eclectic variety of fish performing their aquatic dance amongst the coral landscape. No applause is required as your expression of gratified wonder will suffice.

  • Upon arrival at North Bay, take a guided tour along the beach which is bordered on its northern side by a beautiful palm forest, perhaps climb nearby Mt Eliza, or simply take a dip in its crystal clear waters.

Lord Howe Island - Norfolk Island

Day 4: Thursday 13 April

This morning we a board a privately chartered aircraft for a two and a half hour flight (approximately) to Norfolk Island, about 900 kilometres to the north east. As we make our approach we will be captivated by the bird’s eye view of the verdant island, dotted with Norfolk Island Pines. After landing, we will be transferred to the tranquil and historic resort, Castaways, where we will stay in comfortable Garden Rooms.

Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to pull you in any desirable direction. Perhaps take a stroll to Emily Bay lagoon. Or, walk through one of the island's stunning nature reserves and sink into the serenity.

This evening, enjoy a mesmerising sunset at Anson Bay with a humbling cultural performance by local talent.

Norfolk Island

Day 5: Friday 14 April

Though we travel to open our eyes to places unseen, we also travel to open our minds to the unknown.

Explorers, sailors, mutineers and settlers; this seemingly insignificant island will capture your imagination and stir your inner swashbuckler. Hear grandiose tales of a thrilling past as you wander Norfolk Island with a native islander.

Later, we visit Cyclorama, a spectacular 360 degree panorama depicting Norfolk's mutinous past. This evening we enjoy recounting our day's discoveries during a delightful dinner.

Day 6: Saturday 15 April

Today we gain insight into the islander way of life and learn about their most important enterprises on a farm and industry tour.

Norfolk Island’s first and only winery, Two Chimneys Wines, will satiate your appetite with a delicious lunch and toast to a splendid day with one of the delectable premium varietals or blends.

This afternoon, we enter the dwelling of the late master wordsmith and world renowned author, Colleen McCullough. Walk through the home of this best selling writer and see where she weaved a magical spell of words into beautiful stories.

Day 7: Sunday 16 April

This morning is free for you to bid farewell to Norfolk Island before an afternoon flight back to Sydney with Air New Zealand.
