We wish to advise that The Captains Choice Tour has been the most exciting tour we have been on. We are extremely satisfied that we chose your tour. We had good company on board. We were treated with first class service all the way.
R & B Healey, Around Australia by Private Plane
This morning, we blithely bypass commercial airline queues, and board our Private Jet, bound for the Outback city of Broken Hill. Here, we visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service base then enjoy a Living Desert BBQ lunch.
Back in the air, we breeze across the Outback and soon touch down in Coober Pedy. For the next two nights our oasis is the Desert Cave Hotel, where you may like to stay in a dug-out cave room (above ground rooms are also available).
Tonight we toast our new horizons over a Welcome Dinner with the crew.
In describing Coober Pedy, words like ‘desolate’, ‘hot’ and ‘rough’ spring to mind. At the end of a day exploring the Opal Mining Capital of the World, you’ll add ‘fascinating’ to the list.
We go underground at the Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, the Serbian Orthodox Church and Faye’s Underground Home. Back on the surface, we cross the town’s hole-riddled surrounds to The Breakaways – an arid landscape and the backdrop for such films as Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Later, choose to relax, further explore or play a round of golf at the Coober Pedy Opal Fields Golf Club – one of the world’s most unique courses (it has reciprocal rights to St Andrews).
We take off for the Red Centre after breakfast. On arrival in Alice Springs, a guided tour uncovers the legend and beauty of this town called Alice, and we enjoy lunch at the Old Telegraph Station.
We settle in to the Double Tree by Hilton for a two night stay, and enjoy an enthralling Outback BBQ bush dinner and show this evening.
We head bush today on a tour through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Look out for black footed rock wallabies amid the mystical hush of Simpson’s Gap. Deep within the blissful tranquillity of Standley Chasm, what natural curiosities will you find on the lush gully floor?
After an easy, thousand kilometre journey to Katherine, the natural wonder and ancestral significance of the Top End is revealed on our cultural sightseeing cruise of Katherine Gorge this afternoon.
We bring the spirit of Nitmiluk National Park to life tonight, staying at the Cicada Lodge, a joint eco venture between the Jawoyn people and Indigenous Business Australia. Each room has views out across the gorge, where flora and fauna peek through cracks.
A sumptuous dinner celebrating local produce is bound to be a highlight tonight.
It's hard to farewell this landscape, but our Private Jet beckons and Darwin awaits. Following a city tour we check into the Hilton Hotel Darwin Waterfront, our home for the next two nights.
A cultural melting pot, Darwin is Australia’s most laid-back capital, one that offers easy access to some of the country’s most incredible natural wonders. As the earth gets redder, and people become fewer, there are plenty of sights to take in. Darwin truly is the gateway to some of Australia’s most important and unique national parks and today you will have the opportunity to make tracks to some very special locales.
Getting to the Kimberley’s Berkeley River region is half the adventure. It’s a testament to the remoteness of the location, that the Bungle Bungle Range was only ‘discovered’ in 1983.
Take in the view from above with a scenic flight in a light aircraft, then touchdown for a walk through the distinctive beehive domes. Shout out to test the natural acoustics of Cathedral Gorge and enjoy a gourmet lunch before returning to the air.
Feel in harmony with nature with two nights in a luxury villa at The Berkeley River Lodge. There’s even an open air en suite! The food is delectable, the scenery is organic and the whole experience is sure to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.
There’s so much to do in this sprawling region and today it’s your choice:
We reconvene for lunch and then the afternoon is again yours to do as you please.
We come together to celebrate our day of exploration with sundowner drinks and canapes before we indulge in another delicious dinner this evening.
We enjoy time to soak up the serenity of the area before taking to the air for a bit of ‘flightseeing,’ as we board a light aircraft for the flight over red earth to Kununurra, where our Private Jet awaits.
Onwards to Broome and the Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, for the next two blissful nights. It’s refreshing to know you’re at least 2,000 kilometres from the nearest state capital. Enjoy watching a spectacular Broome sunset before dinner at the hotel.
Broome pearls are famous the world over. You’ll find out about the turbulent pearling heritage at Pearl Luggers this morning, before lunch and tastings at Matso’s micro brewery.
Your afternoon is free to enjoy as you like – why not head down to Cable Beach to see the iconic camels at sunset?
We come together for one last dinner tonight at Cable Beach Resort.
It feels like anything is possible today as our Private Jet whisks us over the wilderness on a morning flight, touching down in the heart of the Red Centre later this afternoon.
At last we can view the majesty of Uluru with our own eyes. Marvel at the way sunrise and sunset play across the great rock as we dedicate the day to the appreciation of a true Australian icon. Our day stretches wide and long with gorge walks, museums and cultural experiences to truly immerse us in this mythical region.
It’s our last night in the Outback – tomorrow we’re homeward bound back to city or town. We toast the essence of everything Australian with a special dinner under the stars this evening.
This may be our final morning in Uluru but the Outback adventure isn’t over yet. We board our Private Jet, take to the wide open skies, and touchdown for a true back of beyond experience with a Farewell Lunch at the iconic Birdsville Hotel.
Our authentic Australian journey comes to a close later this afternoon when we arrive back in Sydney and say our ‘ooroos’.
Imagine a trip where you won’t have to lift a finger, or worry about bringing your wallet.
Sightseeing in each destination is included. Select Options even allow you to tailor aspects of the touring to your individual tastes when there are multiple touring options.
Our privately chartered Embraer 135 jet is one of the fastest and most reliable commercial jet aircrafts operating in Australia. Thanks to its twin jet engines, it has a cruising speed of 820 kilometres per hour, so you can spend less time in the air and more time enjoying the wonders of the destinations it takes you to. When you are in the air, your comfort is paramount. Air conditioning keeps the temperature pleasant at all times and you'll be treated to morning and afternoon teas on board, as well as the occasional light lunch. All are accompanied by drinks, and all consist of local produce that, wherever possible, is sourced from the places you've just visited – so you can indulge in delightful regional flavours even after you've departed. Your seating – either aisle or window – is rotated throughout the journey. The hand selected crew of our Private Jet know that great service means more than just fulfilling your travel needs. It's the genuine smile that greets you every time you board, the security of their expertise, and the unprecedented warmth, care and consideration afforded you from the moment the journey begins to the time you arrive back in Sydney. Flying aboard our Private Jet is not like an ordinary flight – it is always a pleasure and often a highlight.
Our tour features some of Australia’s most remote destinations. We have chosen the best accommodation available in each destination. The accommodation in many of the destinations is not of the standard normally offered on Captain’s Choice but is comfortable and reflects the flavour of the destinations we tour to.
Set on The Kimberley coastline with majestic views out over the Timor Sea, the Berkeley River Lodge brings refined indulgence to one of Australia’s most remote locations. Awaiting you is an ocean-view villa that floats atop a coastal dune.
Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa continues to wow guests with its prime location, lovely accommodation, glorious gardens, and of course, those famous Broome sunsets.
