Day 1: Tuesday 20 June

Still waters run deep in Scandinavia’s fabled fjords. This evening, we’ll join our Emirates flight and fly for Europe’s northern shores wondering what we’ll find beneath the surface of this beautiful region.

Day 2: Wednesday 21 June

Arriving into Copenhagen this afternoon, summertime lights up this relaxed yet refined Danish capital. We check into our sumptuous hotel, D’Angleterre, a grand dame of Copenhagen society and a classic cut amid the city’s contemporary designs. Tonight’s Welcome Dinner serves up a taste of authentic Scandinavian cuisine.

Day 3: Thursday 22 June

Today, we pursue fairytales during a visit to Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid statue, before a stroll around Copenhagen’s enchanting Tivoli Gardens theme park. Venturing further afield into the realms of Shakespeare, we trace the playwright’s inspiration for Hamlet at Kronborg Castle in Helsingor. En route, we’ll stop at the Queen’s Summer Residence at Fredensborg, encircled by velvet green woodlands and rural bliss. Returning to Copenhagen via the picturesque Danish Riviera, we arrive back in time for an elegant dinner.

Day 4: Friday 23 June

Sail: 5.00pm

Viking blood still courses through the veins of all Danes, a legacy we explore at the ancient Viking capital of Roskilde. We discover what drove the Danes and their Scandinavian brethren over the seas to plunder and conquer for some 300 years. Later, we board Silver Whisper and contemplate what ocean bound adventures lie just over the horizon!

Day 5: Saturday 24 June

Arrive 7.30am – Sail 1.00pm

We toast Denmark’s devotion to fine ale on a tour of the Skagen Brewery this morning.

After sampling specialty beers and enjoying the warm hospitality, we head for the Skagen Odde Naturcentre, designed by Jorn Utzon of Sydney Opera House fame. Here, we discover his dedication to the natural elements of this beautiful town’s epic sweeping shoreline.

The indulgent comforts of Silver Whisper await this evening.

Bergen (Norway)

Day 6: Sunday 25 June

Arrive 9.00am – Sail 5.00pm

‘Velkommen’ to Norway! This morning, we acquaint ourselves with the waterside city of Bergen during a stroll along the cheerful medieval wharf. Afterwards, step aboard a funicular and gaze down on ink blue fjords, iridescent glaciers, mountains and moody ravines as you head for the mighty Hardangerfjord.

Day 7: Monday 26 June

Arrive 8.00am – Sail 5.00pm

Disembarking in the Viking port of Hellesylt, we explore the natural beauty of the nation’s most famous fjords on a full day tour by road. Geirangerfjord is the jewel in this region’s crown. Sheer granite cliffs shimmer with plunging waterfalls, whose names are as romantic as the views they inspire; the Seven Sisters, the Suitor and the Bridal Veil. The scenery is breathtaking, as are the farms perched resolutely on steep cliff sides, and the twisting mountain road, which lead us to the village of Geiranger and our ship.

Day 8: Tuesday 27 June

Arrive 8.00am – Sail 1.00pm

The port of Kristiansund is our stepping stone to adventure. Explore the Old Town of Kristiansund then set off on a journey along the Atlantic Road, an incredibly engineered causeway connecting islands, skerries and peninsulas.

Day 9: Wednesday 28 June

Arrive 8.00am – Sail 5.00pm

Today we head for the depths of fjord country, where rail enthusiasts are in for a treat.

The Flamsbana is one of the world’s steepest train lines, snaking through spine tingling granite peaks and deep, water filled valleys. Starting from ocean level in Flam, you will skirt Sognefjord, the longest fjord in Europe. Then ascend to Myrdal mountain station on Hardangervidda plateau, a breathtaking 863 metres above the ocean, before returning to the port of Gudvangen.

Day 10: Thursday 29 June

What a joy to absorb the ocean views and fresh sea breezes this morning! Today is of your making so set the pace to suit you, indulging in onboard amenities such as the gym, spa or the library. As always, the fine food and fluid congeniality of Silver Whisper’s dining venues are never far away.

Day 11: Friday 30 June

Arrive 7.00am – Sail 7.00pm

Copenhagen calls us back today and we’re delighted to return! Covering sights that might otherwise have slipped our net, we head for Hillerod in search of the ornamented splendour of Frederiksborg, a lavish 1560 Renaissance castle. An impressive Museum of Natural History is also housed here, where we while away the afternoon.

A day at sea is the perfect chance to get to know fellow travellers. Why not join your Tour Host Team for a pre dinner drink and a chat about your cruise?

What grand designs do you have for today in Helsinki, Finland’s cultural capital?

  • Perhaps visit Porvoo, a medieval town near Helsinki, and travel back in time on a quintessential day trip to browse quaint streets and eclectic shops. Or gain a local slant on Helsinki life, as you jump aboard Tram Route 6 for a Design and Culinary Tour of the city’s vibrant markets and galleries.

St Petersburg (Russia)

Day 14: Monday 3 July

Arrive 8.00am

Serenaded for centuries by Tchaikovsky’s rousing symphonies, St Petersburg is a truly rewarding destination. An immersive city tour will introduce us to all the sights, including the Peter and Paul Fortress and St Isaac’s Cathedral. This evening, experience the graceful beauty of dance in its spiritual home, as we dress up for an authentic performance by the Mariinsky Ballet Company at one of St Petersburg’s famous theatres.

Day 15: Tuesday 4 July
  • You could easily spend a whole day perusing the kilometres of artwork that frame the Hermitage Museum’s marbled corridors. Founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, the former palace of tsars contains over 650,000 works of art. Alternatively, take an afternoon excursion by hydrofoil to Peterhof Palace, with its parkland of fountains.

Day 16: Wednesday 5 July

Sail: 6.00pm

Heading for the leafy outskirts of St Petersburg this morning, we take the royal road to the faithfully restored Pavlovsk Palace, built in honour of Catherine the Great’s son.

Spend the morning ambling around the nearby parks and palaces of Pushkin, named after Russia’s favourite poet, and explore Rastrelli’s rococo masterpiece, Catherine Palace. A lunch accompanied by a folklore performance then sends us on our merry way from the city of White Nights.

Day 17: Thursday 6 July

Arrive 8.00am – Sail 4.00pm

Behind the medieval walls of Estonia’s capital, Tallinn is crammed with cobble stone streets and a brooding charm all of its own. Explore Tallinn’s finest sights including the Estonian Parliament and the domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, as well as Kadriorg Palace, a former summer residence that today houses the foreign art collection of the Estonian Art Museum.

Stockholm (Sweden)

Day 18: Friday 7 July

We arrive in Stockholm, stylishly scattered over 14 islands. Disembarking for the final time, we are soon waterborne again on a river cruise to Fjallgatan’s city views, before touring the Royal Palace and the Old Town. Haute cuisine in a stately setting awaits for lunch, before we check in to our lovely hotel for the next two nights and enjoy free time.

Day 19: Saturday 8 July

It’s up to you how you’ll shape your further exploration of the Swedish capital today.

  • Maritime ghosts of the past await at the Vasa Museum. See one of the only intact 17th century ships in the world, the beneficiary of a monumental salvage and restoration effort. Or perhaps you’d like to thank ABBA for the music at a museum dedicated to the fantastic four.

For this evening’s Farewell Dinner, indulge in a lavish banquet at the Stockholm City Hall, the esteemed venue of the annual Nobel Prize celebrations.
