Your private transfer delivers you to The Ritz-Carlton, Perth today. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure before we make our way to a local restaurant for a Welcome Dinner, giving you the opportunity to meet your fellow guests and Tour Host Team.

This morning, we board our privately chartered economy-class jet for the short flight to Kalgoorlie. After taking a tour of the town, we discover the Super Pit, Australia’s largest gold-producing mine. Rejoining our private jet, we fly to Paraburdoo, a mining town in the heart of the Pilbara region. From here, we drive to our accommodation for the next two nights, Karijini Eco Retreat, where we enjoy dinner tonight.

This morning, we drive through the picturesque Hamersley Range to discover the ancient rock formations of Weano, Joffre and Dales gorges. Opportunities for swimming within these awe-inspiring settings are presented at idyllic Fern Pool and Fortescue Falls within Dales Gorge. For the more adventurous, Weano Gorge’s Handrail Pool offers a rewarding challenge within a staggeringly beautiful setting. Later, we visit the Karijini Visitor Centre, which tells stories of Indigenous culture and heritage. You can also learn about the region’s pastoral and mining history, as well as its geology, flora and fauna. We reconvene for dinner this evening at our retreat.

Following breakfast, we drive to Mount Tom Price to see the enormous Rio Tinto iron ore mining project. We visit the pit lookout for panoramic views and watch the massive haul trucks and machinery at work before exploring the process plant and the train load out area. We then continue to Paraburdoo Airport for the short flight to Exmouth. On arrival in this coastal town, we transfer to Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort for an afternoon of relaxation. Enjoy your choice of dining this evening, at either our resort’s restaurant or another local establishment.

Today, choose from two full-day Your World experiences:

— Take a cruise around Ningaloo Reef and discover its underwater riches of coral and tropical fish. These waters are also known to host humpback whales, manta rays, turtles, dugongs, dolphins, and the ocean’s biggest fish, the majestic whale shark.
— Alternatively, spend the day discovering the best of Exmouth. Board a glass-bottom boat to see the fire coral garden, green sea turtle habitats, and a kaleidoscope of colourful fish and offshore reefs. Afterwards, visit Vlamingh Head Lighthouse. Nearby, view the wreck of the SS Mildura, which sank in 1907 during a cyclone. You will also visit the Ningaloo Aquarium & Discovery Centre, and finally, admire the expansive views across Charles Knife Canyon.

This evening, we dine at Mantaray’s Restaurant, within our resort.

After breakfast and a leisurely morning at our resort, we make our way to Learmonth Airport for our three-hour flight to Christmas Island, a place rarely visited by other travellers. We enjoy a gourmet lunch on board, before touching down and familiarising ourselves with the island.

Our local guide regales us with the island’s intriguing history, and we hear stories of its contentious detention centre and the old resort casino. We also visit The Grotto, an arresting and secluded rock pool, whose waters emerge from the ocean. At Ma Chor Nui Nui Temple, we find a modest structure perched on a hilltop. Facing the ocean, the temple is dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea, who grants seafarers safe passage.

This afternoon, we transfer to our accommodation at either Christmas Island Apartments or The Sunset. Dine on the balcony at the Golden Bosun Tavern this evening, enjoying the warm sea breeze.

Over the next two days, we split into four smaller groups to enjoy a more in-depth experience of the island. Today, each group will participate in two of the following half-day activities. You will have the opportunity to take part in the remaining two experiences tomorrow.

— At Flying Fish Cove, set out on a two-hour cruise and snorkelling adventure. Explore the cove’s shallow coral gardens and search for turtles, dolphins and an array of striking fish species.
— Explore Hughs Dale Waterfall, one of the few places where water flows year-round. The rainforest wetlands, accessed by a raised boardwalk, are home to mighty Tahitian chestnut trees, blue crabs and an array of rare and endemic species.
— Head to The Blowholes, where the raw power of the ocean is evident in the plumes of spray forced into the air through gaps in the eroded cliffs.
— Wander the tranquil shores of Lily and Ethel beaches, keeping an eye out for brown boobies and red-footed boobies, which nest along the island’s cliffs.

Tonight, we enjoy a meal at Tai Jin House, the grand, former home of the island’s one-time administrator. The house has striking views of Flying Fish Cove and is home to a fascinating museum detailing Christmas Island’s history. This visit is exclusive to our group.

Today, complete your comprehensive discovery of Christmas Island, turning your attention to the remaining half-day experiences from yesterday. A private dinner awaits us this evening at Rumah Tinggi, just metres from the idyllic Indian Ocean shoreline.

We depart Christmas Island, bound for beautiful Broome, and the renowned Cable Beach Club Resort. Following a relaxing afternoon, choose where you would like to dine, selecting from our resort’s four restaurants. You may prefer to dine at Zander’s, located in front of the resort, overlooking spectacular Cable Beach.

This morning, we explore Gantheaume Point, known for its dinosaur footprints, made here 125 million years ago, as well as its views of red rock outcrops and turquoise seas. We then explore the Chinese Cemetery, which comprises more than 90 graves and funerary monuments – a moving commemoration to the town’s pearling days, and a testament to its multicultural make-up. Chinatown further demonstrates Broome’s multicultural composition, before we then arrive at Sun Pictures, the open-air cinema which dates to 1916.

After lunch at Matso’s Broome Brewery, choose from these Your World experiences:

— Join Robert Dann for an insight into Broome’s unique cultural mix, including its ancient Indigenous culture. We learn of the region’s Aboriginal and pearling history, bush tucker, and tragic stories of the Stolen Generations.
— Learn about the impact pearling had on northern Australia, including the draw Broome’s pearling industry had for a range of cultures, during a Willie Creek Pearl Luggers tour. Your guide will detail how fortunes were sought before a backdrop of Dampier Creek’s mangroves during the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Alternatively, enjoy your time at leisure or simply relax at our resort.

Later this afternoon, embark the 50-foot Orcaella catamaran. Cruise Roebuck Bay and round the peninsula before witnessing a magnificent Indian Ocean sunset.

Select your choice of dining venue again this evening.

After breakfast, we depart from Broome Airport for our private jet journey to Kununurra. From here, our group becomes two, with half of us heading to the magnificent Purnululu National Park, while the rest of us set out for the remote Bullo River Station. In either case, our privately chartered Cessna Caravans make for a short and convenient flight.

On arrival, our first group heads out for a scenic walk through Cathedral Gorge and its imposing natural rock amphitheatre, before heading to our outback home for the next two nights. Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge is an oasis of comfort in the heart of the Kimberley, and our luxury tents place us perfectly in the surroundings. We unwind on our private decks and take in the serenity before having dinner at the lodge.

Meanwhile, our other plane touches down on the green lawn adjacent to Bullo River Station’s original homestead, now a guest house. The station serves as our base over the next two nights. From here, you may set off on a variety of excursions at your discretion. You may like to head out on a guided hiking tour, admiring the arresting scenery that makes up this special place. For those tempted by the lure of wildlife encounters, morning and evening safaris reveal native species, including kangaroos, emus, crocodiles, and a plethora of bird species. Enjoy dinner and drinks beneath the stars tonight, before the warm glow of a roaring campfire.

For our guests in Purnululu National Park, a pleasant two-kilometre walk to Echidna Chasm is a highlight of our final full day here. We navigate a path thorough a cleft in the rocks, which subtly change colour with the angle of the sun. Around us are boulder-strewn tracks, and rocks improbably topped with palm trees. Lunch at the lodge follows, and then we have a free afternoon to relax. As we watch the sun set, our Farewell Dinner gives us a chance to reflect on the memorable time we’ve enjoyed here.

At Bullo River Station, enjoy breakfast on the veranda before joining your preferred activity. Choose a day out on the land, revelling in the dust, sweat and exhilaration of station life. Scoot around the property in 4WDs, all-terrain vehicles or on horseback. Or perhaps join the team as they take on the day’s list of tasks, including cattle mustering, bore checks and poddy calf feeding. After enjoying lunch at a billabong, see the collection of ancient Indigenous rock art sites within the station’s boundaries.

Aboard light aircraft, both groups return to Kununurra, where we meet up once more with our private jet. From here, we take the short flight to Darwin. Take a tour of this tropical city, before checking into the Adina Apartment Hotel Waterfront Darwin. This evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner, while sharing your favourite experiences of our journey with your new-found friends and Tour Host Team.

After breakfast, our thrilling adventure comes to an end, and we transfer to the airport.
